City of Henderson Ward II Councilman Addresses Safety Improvements
September 6th, 2017

Dan Shaw, City of Henderson Ward II councilman, is sharing the following information with his constituents in Ward II:

Roadway safety improvement projects will be taking place along Sun City Anthem Parkway and Anthem Drive. City officials presented these roadway improvements at the Aug. 10 Anthem Community Council meeting in Anthem Center.

The loop roads are called Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFBs), which consist of two light-emitting diode (LED) beacons on either side of a roadside pedestrian-warning sign that flash in a left-to-right pattern when pedestrians cross the street. The flashers use an irregular pattern such as those on safety vehicles and are turned on either when a pedestrian pushes a manual button or when a pedestrian automatically triggers a pedestrian-detection system.

The newest RFFBs will be installed at the following locations:

  • Sun City Anthem Parkway and Solera Moon Drive
  • Sun City Anthem Parkway and Atchley Drive
  • Sun City Anthem Parkway and Anthem Drive
  • Langston Hughes and Sun City Anthem Drive
  • Williamsport and Sun City Anthem Drive
  • Preston Park Drive and Sun City Anthem Drive
  • Thunder Bay Ave and Sun City Anthem Drive
  • Olivia Heights Ave and Sun City Anthem Drive
  • Foxtail Creek Ave and Sun City Anthem Drive

Two additional RFFBs will be installed at locations in Anthem Highlands.

In addition to the RFFBs, Henderson Public Works is planning to improve the sidewalk conditions along the Anthem loop roads.
